Eco friendly and dog friendly holiday cottage in the heart of the North Pennines
Dog Friendly cottage
Isaac’s Byre holiday cottage is a self catering, dog friendly cottage.
Isaac’s Byre is a dog friendly self catering cottage. We welcome up to four well behaved dogs here. If you have large dogs then we are sorry but we can accommodate only two. Dogs stay free of charge.
DOG FRIENDLY EXTRAS
Because we love dogs so much we provide a few extras free of charge:
Towels for their wet or muddy paws,
A tag for their collars with the cottage address and phone number so they don’t get lost.
Some dog snacks. There are goodies for humans so we can’t leave out our dog guests,
A water bowl,
Throws for the sofas, extra throws if you need them.
Old sheets in case it is very muddy outside,
Biodegradable poop bags,
Torches so you can see when you take your dogs out at night for their last minute walk before bed,
A bucket and brush and an outside tap to clean muddy paws,
Spare leads in case you have forgotten to pack your pup’s lead.
A list of pet friendly pubs and other places to eat. Most places around the area are dog friendly,
We have crates which you are able to borrow if you wish too.
DOG FRIENDLY WALKS
We are lucky to have walks on footpaths from the door. There are dozens of dog friendly walks here. Too many to list them all here.
We have a variety of maps with dog friendly circular walks. Many of the walks start from the door. We can give you recommendations of walks to suit your dog.
We know some of your doggy friends may not be able to climb stiles. And others may not like muddy fields. And some need to be able to run off the lead rather than staying on the lead. Just ask us and we will recommend places close by where dogs can run safely off the lead. If your dogs love water there are streams and waterfalls galore, plus the river, South Tyne.
Alston has a lot of dog friendly pubs and cafes. You can have a walk and take your dog with you. They are very welcoming. Places to eat- dog friendly.
Ask us for our recommendations of suitable walks. You may prefer to have a walk which has a dog friendly pub en route.
South Tynedale Railway is also very pet friendly. One idea of a level walk is to take the train (not running during 2020 season) to the last stop and walk back.
The water bowl we use in our cottage is very pet friendly. We use one for our Labrador and have another for our hens. Portabowl Twist n Flow, invented by our friend Leo. You can buy them at Mad Hatters hardware shop in Alston or online.
